Excel and VBA

Still the fastest tool for many jobs. A well-built workbook removes retyping today, before any platform decision.

Excel is already on every desk and everyone can read it. With formulas, tables and some VBA it removes a surprising amount of manual work, often within days. That makes it a good first step: it relieves the pressure and shows what a bigger solution really needs to do.

In practice

  • Delta Reefer Care: Excel tools removed 3–4 hours of PDF retyping per day, before the move to Power Platform.
  • Stone Solutions: an Excel/VBA catalogue with prices and markups let partners and a kitchen company place complete orders themselves via PDF export. The structure still runs eight years later.

When to move on

A workbook reaches its limit when many people need to work in it at the same time, when work happens on a phone on the shop floor, or when you need to know who changed what and when. That is usually the moment for a platform such as Power Platform.

From paper work orders, WhatsApp and email to a handheld app for mechanics and desktop apps for office and operations, on one shared backbone.
